Value Your Donations

Estimating the Value of Your Donations

If you are a taxpayer who itemizes deductions on federal tax returns (using the long form), you are entitled to claim a charitable deduction for donated items. The following are approximate market valuations of different types of items sold in Goodwill stores. The actual value of goods varies according to their condition. Note: Federal law provides that clothing and household goods must be in “good used condition or better” for tax deductions.
