Care package assembly

Creating Care Packages

A variety of volunteer opportunities are available through our volunteer services.
Description of Duties:
Creates care packages for foster children.
Creates cards of encouragement for residents of Goodwill apartment communities and senior homes.
Assists with our high school student programs.
Lends a hand with Goodwill events and activities.
Evaluates and sorts donations, moves donated items to and from the warehouse, restocks and organizes shelves, or hangs clothing.
Scope of Responsibility:  All the above activities will be shared and guided by Goodwill employees.

Junior Achievement Finance Park Volunteer

Description of Duties: Encourages financial literacy by working with youth in partnership with Junior Achievement in Goodwill’s storefront within Finance Park. Introduce Goodwill’s social enterprise model and the impact of retail, donated goods and mission services.
Scope of Responsibility: Volunteers work with eighth and ninth graders in learning basic financial planning, promoting Goodwill as the value shopping option for purchase of essential clothing. Volunteers are ambassadors for Goodwill and our mission.

BookWorks Story Reader

BookWorks volunteer

Description of Duties: Encourages literacy by reaching out to children where books and reading may not be part of the child’s environment.
Scope of Responsibility: Volunteers read to children at Head Start centers and other locations, then present each child with a personalized book of their own to take home.

BookWorks Sorter/Cleaner

Description of Duties: Sorting, cleaning and preparing donated children’s books for BookWorks.
Scope of Responsibility: Sorting, cleaning and preparing donated children’s books.

Elementary School Book Drop

Description of Duties: To further encourage a love of reading in first and second graders and help improve literacy levels at elementary schools in need, BookWorks arranges for a delivery of elementary-age books to be dropped at schools by volunteers.
Scope of Responsibility: Volunteers drop off bundles of books to elementary schools as a special celebrated book delivery.
