A jewel in my crown

This dress can work so well in lots of different occasions!

Happy September, thrift friends!

I’m so excited to share my recent Goodwill find. It happened to be in my favorite color: green! And not just any green, it’s a beautiful emerald jewel tone that’s perfect for the (slightly) cooler temperatures.

But maybe best of all, because this dress happened to be discounted as part of Goodwill’s colored tag deal. That’s right, this classic piece was originally $5.98 but I paid only $3 at the register!

I paired the dress with a black top with a beaded collar I found at the same Goodwill-Suncoast on Gandy Boulevard in St. Petersburg. Immediately after I spotted it on the rack, I knew it would pair well and complement the elegance of the green dress. And, it was only $5.98.

The beaded collar really tied the look together!

The purse was thrifted some time ago in 2019, and I kept the price tag on there as proof to my friends when they didn’t believe it was from Goodwill. My statement rings were also a Goodwill pickup from several years ago. With the dress and shirt, that’s only $8.98 spent on a beautiful new outfit! Second-hand shopping can really pay off.

For this styling, I wanted to go for a monochromatic look. I think the dress can be worn to wedding, a date, church, or other formal functions, or any occasion where you want to elevate your style. It was the perfect look for a visit to the Ringling Museum in Sarasota! Have you ever gone? It’s a beautiful location and a fun day trip not far out of Tampa Bay!

I’m in love with the simplicity of the dress and how I accessorized it. I hope this inspires you to wear your favorite-colored outfits.

Kick it in style, Tampa Bay

Hello again my thrift friends!

Florida’s hot summertime is coming to a close, meaning that soon we’ll be able to enjoy those pleasant evening walks along the waterfront.

I hope you have been well and active this summer. In the past couple of weeks, I’ve been trying to stay on an active lifestyle, but I must admit, I need to be more disciplined and committed (hehe). But, a new-to-me pair of cute sneakers is helping me get motivated to move!

What a find!

I picked up a pair of Sketchers at the Goodwill location in Trinity, FL. Not only were they a steal at $8.69 (retail between $45-$60!), but their neutral colors will be versatile for both working out or wearing around town throughout the coming fall season. For the past year, I’ve become determined to adopt a minimalist closet, so shopping second-hand is an important part of that. Any thrifted item I buy needs to be able to be worn in multiple ways and go with multiple outfits, so these sneakers are a check and check in that department!

Oh, did I mention, they’re also super comfy? The shoe laces actually stay tied, instead of slipping or coming undone. Their “air cooled yoga mat” soles make me feel like I’m walking on clouds.

With our beautiful fall weather on the horizon, I can’t wait to get moving in these new kicks!
P.S. The Trinity Goodwill-Suncoast has been rocking it with cool finds lately!

Giving Thanks for Thrifty Finds!

Hello my lovely thrifters! I hope you’ve been well and are soaking in all the Autumn joys. Thanksgiving is drawing near and I wanted to share another Goodwill outfit with you.

I know with all the calamities of 2020, there will be different arrangements for our Thanksgiving gatherings. For some it’ll be an intimate gathering with a few family members, and for others it may be a virtual dinner party.

Whether you’ll be having dinner virtually or in person, to a degree I think it still matters to show up looking dazzling!

So here’s a simple yet a bit sophisticated orange dress I found on the racks at Goodwill for $12.98.

dress with price tag

When I first saw this dress, I immediately fell in love with the shoulder tie and the lace design that runs on the thigh. The material is really stretchy and hugging at the same time. And with a happy quarantined weight gain I initially thought it wouldn’t fit but it does!

So who said dresses need to be paired with heels all the time? Guess what? I found white Tory Burch trainers at Goodwill for just $8.96!! If you’re familiar with the brand, they usually retail for around $200!

Tory Burch shoes

I couldn’t believe my eyes! They are unimaginably comfortable to walk in, and I love the blue sequin that runs on both sides of the shoes. I think it adds character to the shoe and adds an uplifting personality to the wearer!

shoes and tag

In all, my total outfit from Goodwil was just $21.94!

You really can’t beat that price!

I hope you have a lovely and memorable time with your loved ones. Continue to stay safe.

FALL-ing for Sustainable Fashion!

Hello lovey my lovely thrifters! Have you been finding some great Goodwill finds? I have!

Today is the official first day of fall, my favorite season of the year. If you’ve read some of my blogs, you’ll find that I wear long sleeve shirts a lot, so now I can finally (well, eventually) have a good reason to rock my long sleeves!

Here’s a look at my latest fall outfit, thrifted from Goodwill. First, I found this extremely comfy fleece sweater for just $3.98. This brand can be usually found at Target and sells between $30-$40; finding this was a great bargain!

Lately I’ve not been in to carrying purses, I prefer carrying a  wristlet. But this beautiful burgundy crossbody bag grabbed my attention and I figured it would match well with the sweater. And, it was brand new and just $4.97 at Goodwill!

purse and price

To top of this great Goodwill shopping trip, I found a pair of  BOOTIful ( Lol, get it?)  boots for $8.96. They’re barely worn and really comfortable, and there’s even room for toe space even when worn with socks. I think the boots matched well the purse and sweater.

brown boots

A good match, right?

Here’s the sweater, purse and boots paired with jeans I already owned. I love this fall outfit, and I only spent about $18 to put it all together!

Until then, see you next time thrifters!

An Open Mind = Great Find!

Hello Thrift Hunters,

I hope you’ve been well. It’s been a little while since my last blog. I was consumed by work and will finally get a break from it sometime soon and I can’t wait!

In this week’s blog, I want to show you a simple “dress” I found at Goodwill. At just $4.48, I couldn’t afford to leave it on the rack.

Here’s the funny part, and a good reason to always shop with an open mind: My “dress” is actually a shirt with a pleated bottom and I found it in the extra large section!

I felt a bit guilty because there were so many options for smaller size clothes, but I still picked this. Or maybe did it pick me? Ha!

I would do anything for a dress with pockets, but I still couldn’t love this any less. I love the flower patterns and I love how free it makes me feel.

I decided to take a little walk in nature with my cute dress. I love how it makes me standout in all the greens of nature! Get out and shop at Goodwill with an open mind, and I’ll see you next time!

A Summer of Thrift Love

I hope you’re all having a fantastic summer! Mine has been pretty good for the most part. I’ve been working from home so I get to spend more time watching my favorite Netflix shows. Speaking about Netflix shows, I’ve been enjoying watching Korean dramas! Drop a comment below and let me know what shows you’ve been watching!

This week’s thrift outfit I found at Goodwill is a long simple flower dress with two side splits and off-the-shoulder sleeves. The dress is originally from Forever21, but  I thrifted it at Goodwill for just $5.98! It looks far more expensive on than $5.98!!

dress on hanger
It doesn’t look like much on the hanger, but…

One of the things I love about the dress is it has a silicon lining on the chest area that allows it to stay in place and not accidentally reveal the entire chest area. The side split makes it super fun to wear. It feels great and dramatic whenever the cool breeze blows!

I wanted to wear it somewhere that’s also dramatic, so I headed out to the Hindu Temple of Florida in Tampa. What a beautiful place!

Isn’t it amaaaazing?!

This is as close to exotic traveling I could get with our current situation! But I think this dress would be great vacation attire to wear to for an afternoon lunch. Once everything settles, I plan to wear it everywhere LOL!

See you next time!

In the meantime, keep safe and enjoy the rest of your summer!

Red, White & New!

Hey thrifters!

It’s been a while since the last outfit I shared with you. I hope you are taking good care of yourself physically and mentally in these trying times.

Although it’s been relatively hard for everyone, I’ve been keeping a light heart and staying optimistic for a better tomorrow.

As you probably know, Goodwill stores had to temporarily close for health and safety reasons, and I couldn’t be any happier when I learned they had reopened!

Fourth of July is approaching, and I managed to score a few outfits inspired by the upcoming holiday. Of course this year will be spent differently – I’m planning on doing a virtual hangout with my friends and faraway family members.

The first outfit I found was a brand new Ralph Lauren Polo dress; it was originally priced at $99.99, and I scored it for about $25. A fraction of the original retail price! Can you believe it?!

I love that it has long sleeves, is a bit stretchy, and shows off my curves. It flatters my body and I feel very comfortable in it!

The next item I found is this super cute star-studded shirt from Old Navy. It was priced at $4.48 at Goodwill.

I paired it with white jeans from Old Navy I found at Goodwill several months ago for $9.98.

I love the material of the shirt; it’s really soft and I love the versatility of how it can be styled with either a cute dark jean pant, overalls, or jean skirt.

My wish for this year’s independence holiday is to bring forth more indestructible unity, peace, and continuous love. I hope you all stay safe while you celebrate with your friends and loved ones.

Happy Fourth!

Taking it to the (mostly empty) streets!

Hello Friends,

I hope you are taking good care of yourself and spending quality time with you friends and families!

As you probably know, all Goodwill-Suncoast retail stores are back open – whoop! The stores are packed FULL of donations collected while everyone on the planet is home cleaning out their closets – so I managed to find some pretty cool items. And, they have new safety measures in place.

Since everyone’s practicing social distancing, the streets have been mostly empty so I planned for a streetwear-style outfit to show off when things return to normal. It’s not usually my go-to style, but I decided now was a good time to explore where fashion could take me!

First I found a lightweight yellow turtle neck for $4.448. I love how subtle the yellow hue is. Yellow makes me look flushed out so I thought this would really suit me well.

Then I found these striped pants from a great brand, Banana Republic, for just $7.98. I love how the stripes give the illusion that I’m taller. (I’m 5’4″ so an extra inch added to my height doesn’t hurt at all!

And now, the shoes. MY OH MY! They are brand new and I found them in the men’s section for only $11.99! I love everything about this sneaker. They are super lightweight and it almost feels like I’m walking on clouds.

Put it all together and what have you got? A fun streetwear outfit!

I really love this simple outfit and I cannot wait to flaunt it on the street once everything has opened back up! In the meantime, I hope you stay safe!

What do you think about this streetwear outfit? Did I do good? Comment and let me know what you think!
