Goodwill Thanks the Community for Supporting Bahamas Relief

$25,000 raised in special Bahamas aid collection at Goodwill stores

Goodwill Industries-Suncoast would like to thank our shoppers, our team members, and the community for donating more than $25,000 during a special collection for relief efforts in the Bahamas.

From Sept. 5-19, 2019, shoppers at Goodwill -Suncoast stores were invited to round up their purchases to support relief efforts for victims of Hurricane Dorian. Cashiers also accepted donations from people not making a purchase. Our goal was to collect $25,000 to help people in the Bahamas devastated by the storm and thanks to the generosity of the community, we exceeded that amount.

Donations from Goodwill’s Round Up program usually go to support the agency’s services, but this special Round Up collection will be donated to the American Red Cross and will be a direct pass-through to the Bahamas Red Cross to assist people affected by the storm.

Goodwill-Suncoast is donating cash to help with the relief efforts rather than collecting material donations because of the challenges in getting donated items to people in need.

Goodwill Industries-Suncoast is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to help people achieve their full potential through the dignity and power of work.
