Work Work Work!

Share

Rihanna said it best: “Work work work work work.” (Or maybe she didn’t.) All I know is that five days a week I’m in work clothes. For me, work clothes are business or business casual, so I find myself in a lot of dresses, skirts and dress pants.

Remember that black and pink shirt I was so excited to pair with my printed skirt? Here she is, paired with a pair of Nordstrom BP black pumps and white blazer with black piping I’ve had f-o-r-e-v-e-r. This entire outfit cost less than $25 and each piece has proven extremely versatile. Thanks Goodwill!

I always feel both classic and patriotic in this next outfit. The skirt isn’t from Goodwill (shhh! It’s from Bealls Outlet) but the Target Merona brand navy shirt and patent leather flats are! I added a beige patent leather belt to the middle to accentuate my waist. I’m a big fan of pairing one print with a solid–that way you have endless options in your closet. Another $25 outfit!

I’ll admit that a lot of my closet is boring black and white…and I love it! Black and white pieces are such classics that you can not only mix and match solids with prints, you can mix and match prints with prints when you’re feeling especially frisky. Here is a Monteau black and white peplum shirt paired with a black Merona pencil skirt and those red Aldo peeptoes I’ve mentioned before. The retro matching earrings and necklace are hand-me-downs from my awesome mom, who has given me lots of cool goodies over the years. You’ll see more of her stuff, I promise!

Spring is almost here! While black and white is my tried and true, you’ll catch me in a lot of colors too. Don’t you see why I spend so much time at Goodwill!? I have so many options there! Here I’m in a $5 springy Liz Claiborne blouse paired with a $7 salmon Merona blazer and complimented by an Urban Outfitters necklace I picked up at a friend’s secondhand sale.  Unseen: a turquoise pencil skirt!

What makes any dress better? All together now: POCKETS!!! I have dressed this $6 burnt orange dress up and down and I always get compliments while I’m squirreling stuff away in the super roomy pockets. And these suede Zara wedges I found at the Central location for less than $6? Can you say completely perfect?!
