Goodwill Inviting Shoppers to Round Up to Help Victims of Harvey

Share

For the next two weeks, Aug. 30 through Sept. 12, 2017, shoppers at Goodwill Industries-Suncoast stores will be invited to round up their purchases to support Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. Donations from Goodwill’s Round Up program usually go to support the agency’s employment services, but this special Round Up collection will be donated to the American Red Cross to assist people affected by the devastating storm.

Goodwill-Suncoast will collect and donate cash to help with relief efforts, since monetary donations are more beneficial than donations of material goods, which are difficult to deliver to the affected areas.

Cashiers at all 18 retail stores and three outlet stores operated by Goodwill-Suncoast will also accept hurricane relief donations from people who don’t make purchases, with all of these funds being forwarded to the Red Cross. Goodwill-Suncoast stores are in Pinellas, Hillsborough, Pasco, Polk, Hernando, Citrus, Sumter, Highlands and Marion counties. For store locations, visit www.goodwill-suncoast.org.

Goodwill Industries-Suncoast is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to help people achieve their full potential through the dignity and power of work. The organization’s successful donated goods retail operation helps support its human services in 10 counties in West Central Florida including employment services, training and job placement for people with disabilities, a children’s literacy program, affordable apartment communities for seniors and people with disabilities, and community corrections programs.
