Client Activities/Job Training Volunteers

Scope of Responsibility:  Volunteers will assist clients in our Life Skills Development program for adults with disabilities to sort clothing and donations, learn critical skills or do fun projects.

Special Events Volunteers

Hippie Dash volunteers

Description of Duties: Special Event volunteers help out as needed at fundraisers, community events, job fairs and other activities that are either hosted by Goodwill or supported by Goodwill. Duties may include such tasks as set up/tear down, distribution of food/drinks/goodie bags/promo items, registration, oversight of a particular area or other activities as mutually agreed upon.
Scope of Responsibility: Volunteers typically work within a team with direction from a team leader or through detailed written instructions. Projects are assigned, as mutually agreed, according to the interest and skill level of each individual facilitator.

Beach Cleanup

Scope of Responsibility:  Enjoy a couple hours at the beach. Join goodwill clients as they help clean and protect our beautiful beaches.

BookWorks Story Reader

BookWorks volunteer readers

Description of Duties: Encourages literacy by reaching out to children where books and reading may not be part of the child’s environment.
Scope of Responsibility: Volunteers read to children at Head Start centers and other locations, then present each child with a personalized book of their own to take home.

BookWorks Sorter/Cleaner

Description of Duties: Sorting, cleaning and preparing donated children’s books for BookWorks.
Scope of Responsibility: Sorting, cleaning and preparing donated children’s books.

Elementary School Book Drop

Description of Duties: To further encourage a love of reading in 1st- and 2nd-graders and help improve literacy levels at elementary schools in need, BookWorks arranges for a delivery of elementary-age books to be dropped at schools by volunteers.
Scope of Responsibility: Volunteers drop off bundles of books to elementary schools as a special celebrated book delivery.
